This week we spent a lot of time discussing what we would like our classroom to look like, sound like, and feel like. We read a lot of books including "The Invisible Boy" by Trudy Ludwig and "The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes" by Mark Pett and Gary Rubenstein. The girls helped me come up with our class promise (a.k.a class rules), and they will be signing it this coming week. Basically, our goal is to act like a St. Catherine's girl and be polite, responsible, respectful, honest and kind.
Friday morning we enjoyed the Opening Ceremony in the Kenny Center, and in the afternoon the girls had fun playing math games. On Wednesday and Thursday, we discussed the math centers we will be starting next week. I am very excited to be teaming with Katherine Applewhite this year, and the girls will be placed into groups and rotate through different centers each week. The centers will include: meeting with the teacher, practicing math facts, and completing independent math centers.
I look forward to seeing everyone at Parent's Night this coming Thursday, September 5th from 6:00-8:00pm.
Have a Great Long Weekend!
