Weekly Update!

We had a super fun start to the week with the Gold/White Cheer Rally on Monday! The girls were filled with school spirit and a fun time was had by all. Click here to see pictures from this event.

In math, we worked on multiplying and dividing by 4 and 5. We practiced solving equations in multiple ways. The girls used lots of hands-on manipulatives to show equal groups and then drew pictures and wrote equations to match what they created. We also used our critical thinking skills to solve a variety of word problems that included real-world situations. We will wrap up the unit next week when we discuss multiplying and dividing by 10.

In writing, many of the girls completed their Valentine Zoo stories. They were given an editing checklist and practiced editing their own work for the first time! We will continue to work on this skill for the remainder of the year.

In social studies, most of the girls completed their planet flipbooks. I was so impressed with how well the girls worked independently as they researched the planets and wrote about interesting facts. We will be sharing our information next week. In addition, several girls presented their Famous African American projects and research. The girls thoroughly enjoyed creating their visual aids and learning more about these amazing individuals. Click here to see updated pictures of the girls with their projects.

Next Friday is Innovation Day, and the girls will be making Leprechaun traps with their Big Sisters! The girls will be mostly using everyday materials brought in from home to construct their traps. The girls are welcome to bring in their materials any day next week. There is no need to purchase anything for this activity!

Have a great weekend!
